Trust yourself when your life's in a muddle
Trust yourself when you've broken your heart
Use your mind and your Spirit together
To keep you from falling apart.
You see the world and its workings as ugly
Of yourself you've a negative view
Don't you get any feeling of beauty?
Can't you see that it's coming from you?
You're not wrong, or an idiot, or foolish
You don't deserve what is coming to you.
You're a person who sometimes gets muddled
You just need to work out what to do.
So use your mind, use your heart, use your confidence
Take a happy and positive view
And move forward and onwards and upwards
To where the world's shining bright
Just for you!
Ten times ten
And ten times one thousand
Everyone watching
Everyone, everywhere
Nothing and no one escapes those looks
Seeing, knowing, judging, basking
In their superiority
Their eternal rightness of being
While others struggle and strive
Just to stay ahead of the game
With no need to consider perfection
Or wallow in the luxury of being right
Knowing that in the next breath
The next instant
Everything will change
Those who are wrong will be right
The righteous will fall from grace
And the others will carry on
Unconcerned by these idiosyncrasies
But concerned by real problems
Cruelty, starvation, suffering
The latest war
And the cost of oil
Understanding that judging other people
Is not the same as knowing their souls
And is therefore
Pointless.
Deep are the Caves of Ismaron
Where the Hoogles and Floogles have already gone
They've stolen the map and shredded the guide
If you don't know the way then you're sure to arrive
If you do know the way then you'll only get bored
And miss all the signposts that should be ignored
It's vital your knowing just where you are going
In this place where the under is over the ground
In time without measure in search of a treasure
That never/was hidden so can not be found
The folks you encounter will measure your worth
If the Hoogles are picky the Floogles are worse
They've negative standards and punitive means
And nothing is ever quite not what it seems
For the fainthearted fool can be fooled by the wise
And the wise can be fooled by the Ismaron's lies
If the wise and the foolish are one and the same
Then you'll need to know some of the rules of this game
You were conceived in a mist and then born in a fog
And kissing a prince(ss) only gets you a frog
The light that you're seeking has never been seen
But it is where you are and it was where you've been
So if you've the courage and if you've the nouse
And if you've the key to get out of your house
If you're willing to finish what wasn't begun
And to wander at night by the light of the sun
You may well discover the Ismaron's lair
Which could be a fable, and may...not...be there!
The Time of Dark Imaginings when fantasy takes flight
Occurs between the time between the daylight and the night.
A fantasy of purest thought, a demon or a muse?
Or in between the in between, a sleep invented ruse?
A quiet time, a happy time, a time when wishes fly
Comes in between the time between
As softly as a sigh.
